Manuela Vallicelli

I was born in Italy and after just two years my family moved to Nigeria to live and work there. I attended the Italian school until 13 years of age when we came back to Italy. I continued my studies at the Art Highschool and the Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna, specializing in painting with a semester at the Universitat de Belles Arts of Barcelona. Once completed my studies I worked with photography, sculpture and theatre. In the year 2000 I decided to devote myself only to painting to study its language in depth in an exclusive and absolute way. Over the years this research has taken me to a more and more essential representation of shape and color and to the strenghtening of my relation with painting, so much as becoming a part of my own identity.

Sono nata in Italia e dopo appena due anni la mia famiglia si è trasferita in Nigeria per lavoro. Ho frequentato la scuola italiana fino ai 13 anni, quando siamo tornati in Italia. Ho proseguito i miei studi al Liceo Artistico e all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Ravenna, indirizzo pittura, con un semestre all’Universitat de Belles Arts di Barcellona. Conclusi gli studi ho lavorato con la fotografia, la scultura e il teatro. Nel 2000 ho deciso di dedicarmi esclusivamente alla pittura per approfondirne il linguaggio in modo esclusivo e totale. Nel corso degli anni questa ricerca mi ha portato ad una rappresentazione della forma e del colore sempre più essenziale e al consolidamento di un rapporto con la pittura che sento ogni giorno più forte e parte della mia stessa identità.
